01 Conference Overvie


The China Game Studies Twin-City Annual Conference serves as the flagship academic component of the [Aniwow!] China (Beijing) International College Animation Festival series. Jointly initiated by the School of Animation and Digital Arts at Communication University of China and the School of Animation and Game Design at China Academy of Art, the event alternates between Beijing and Hangzhou, hence its name “Twin-City Annual Conference.”


Rooted in the era of intelligent media, the conference adopts a multi-perspective, interdisciplinary approach to deeply examine the application and impact of game art and technology in education, society, and culture. It explores topics including but not limited to game ontology research, functional games, indie games, and the application and future development of diverse technologies in gaming. The conference aims to forge deep connections between academia and industry, promote the integration and collision of Chinese game academic research and design practice, and build an international, innovative exchange platform serving global game and animation, digital arts research and practice worldwide.


The inaugural 2025 conference is hosted by the School of Animation and Digital Arts at Communication University of China, with co-hosting by the School of Animation and Game Design at China Academy of Art. The annual theme is “Possible Worlds of Games,” featuring keynote sessions and multiple sub-sessions.

04 Call for Papers

This open call for submissions primarily targets current master's and doctoral students, as well as young faculty members under the age of 40. Authors should provide either an abstract of approximately 1,500–2,000 words (written in Chinese or English) or a full paper exceeding 6,000 words (written in Chinese).

Papers and abstracts must generally align with the suggested research topics, feature well-developed arguments, demonstrate theoretical or practical value, and exhibit a degree of innovation. Submitted articles will undergo peer-review evaluation, focusing on originality, research depth, relevance to conference themes, academic merit, and readability. Selected papers/abstracts may be invited for oral presentations at the conference or for academic poster displays during the event (subject to the organizing committee's notification).


If AI tools are used to assist in writing, the name of the AI tool and its specific purpose must be clearly stated in the manuscript. The direct generation of the main content of the paper using AI tools is strictly prohibited; AI tools may only be used for auxiliary tasks such as language polishing and format adjustments. Academic responsibility cannot be evaded by citing AI generation.
